Mary Mara, an actress who starred in TV shows like “Law & Order”, “Ray Donovan” and “NYPD Blue”, died on Sunday, her manager confirmed to Page Six. She was 61 years old.
New York State Police troops responded to the call for a possible drowning shortly after 8 a.m. local time Sunday in the town of Cape Vincent where she lived, according to a police report obtained by The Post.
After leaving the scene, police found her body – which they said showed no signs of being attacked by another person – in the water.
“Mary’s body was found this morning in her beloved St. Mary’s River. “Lawrence,” her spokeswoman told Fox News Digital. “She drowned while swimming.” However, an autopsy will still be performed at the Jefferson County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine an official cause of death.
Mara is said to have been staying at her sister’s summer house, across the river from St. Lawrence, when he decided to go for a swim.
“Mary was one of the best actresses I have ever met. I still remember seeing him on stage in 1992 in ‘Mad Forest’ off-Broadway. She was energetic, funny and a really good person. Everyone loved it. “We will miss her,” said the manager.
Although Mara starred in over 20 films, the small screen was where she found herself. She dominated the television drama genre with roles in other popular shows such as “Nash Bridges”, “ER”, “Criminal Minds”, “The West Wing”, “Shameless”, “Lost” and “Star Trek: Enterprise” , among others.
