The dog was found with deep wounds

It’s truly heartbreaking how some people treat dogs, but thankfully there are also kind people in the world willing to step up and give these mistreated animals a second chance.

That was the case for one dog, who in just a few weeks went from being chained up, hurt, and neglected to have a loving new home.

According to a Facebook post from the Oklahoma Humane Society, an Australian shepherd named Camilla was found tied up to a pole. A good samaritan found her and called the sheriff.

It was clear that Camilla had been tied up for quite some time, and the metal wire that was used to tie her up became embedded in her skin, leaving her with a deep, visible wound around her neck.

The Oklahoma Humane Society took Camilla in and cared for her using donations from their angel fund. Not long after being rescued from such neglect, Camilla found someone to care for her.

“She came straight to me and I agreed to foster her,” Mark Henderson told KFOR.

Henderson said that despite the pain and abuse the dog had faced, she was sweet and just wanted to be loved.

“She really has ever reason to almost hate humans because she was treated very very poorly,” Henderson said. “She was ready to engage, she was excited… She just has that genuine joy about her, she’ll paw at you.”

He fell so in love with the dog that he decided to adopt her for good. According to KFOR, the dog is now known as “Honey.”

“She is the sweetest girl with an amazing personality and now enjoys lounging on a comfortable bed in her new home,” the Oklahoma Humane Society wrote.

Henderson says you can still feel the scar on Honey’s neck from when she was tied up weeks ago, but despite everything, she’s thriving in her loving new home.

It’s heartbreaking that anyone would tie up a dog like that, but we’re glad that Honey now has a new family who will really love her
