6-year-old Gage Berger went so far as to undergo plastic surgery so that he would no longer suffer from bullying. The boy went through an extremely difficult period during which his classmates offended him because of his protruding ears. After years of humiliation, Gage’s parents decided to undergo plastic surgery to correct this physical feature.
The 6-year-old was constantly bullied by his peers. Because of this, the boy was often left alone and did not want to go to school anymore. “I caught him looking in the mirror and touching his ears and when he was nervous or upset he put his ears on,” said the victim’s father. So the boy’s parents decided to end this ordeal radically by operating on him.
Gage was terribly excited about correcting this physical defect. The parents then contacted Dr. Steven Mobley, director of the Mobley Foundation for Charitable Surgery in Utah. At his institution, cosmetic surgery was free for school children who were victims of bullying.
The doctor, understandably, has already operated on many children suffering from a physical complex to enable them to regain self-confidence. After talking to Gage, the specialist agreed to take him under his arm to operate on him and help him feel better about himself. Fortunately, the operation went perfectly and two days later, the baby was able to smile again.
“He is much safer,” said Gage’s father, happy to see his son relieved.
After this operation, the child was much more fulfilled in school. When he returned home and his parents asked him how he was doing, he gladly told them he had made friends. His life seems to have changed since this operation.
Unfortunately, Gage’s self-esteem took a terrible toll. So his parents chose a radical solution to make their child smile. If this choice is debatable, it is important to recognize the signs of bullying when a child is a victim, in order to ensure that the latter is not affected by this horrific ordeal. After this operation, the child was much more fulfilled in school.
